Meadow Creek Cafe, tucked away on Meadow Creek Road in Fortine, Montana, serves up a casual and welcoming spot for breakfast and lunch. This local cafe draws a steady crowd of early risers and midday visitors, many of whom are locals looking for large, hearty portions alongside friendly service that feels distinctly small-town. The atmosphere is unpretentious and comfortable — a place where the focus is on satisfying, familiar flavors rather than fancy fuss.

Regulars come for the morning rush to enjoy classics like the Biscuits and Gravy or the cinnamon rolls, both of which deliver generous servings that match the down-to-earth vibe. The menu also features sandwiches with a local twist — the Spicy Hawaiian on a soft Hawaiian roll is a standout and often mentioned by those who stop in after a morning commute or weekend adventure. Alongside savory options, housemade pies like pecan and blueberry offer a slice of home-style comfort, typically enjoyed with a robust espresso or a thick milkshake, rounding out the experience.

Visitors can expect attentive, friendly service that makes Meadow Creek Cafe feel like a neighborhood fixture rather than a transient pit stop. Many find it an ideal place to gather for breakfast that can fuel a day of exploring the surrounding Montana landscape or to meet for a casual lunch away from the highway bustle. Hours can vary, so it’s wise to check ahead, especially since the cafe fits the rhythm of a small town where routine and seasons shape daily life.

Overall, this is a spot best suited to those who appreciate generous portions of classic American breakfast and lunch fare served in a straightforward, welcoming environment — from locals caught up in their daily routines to travelers seeking a sincere taste of Fortine’s everyday dining scene.

Always a great place to eat! Espresso, milk shakes, and desserts in addition to yummy biscuits and gravy! The Hawaiian is my favorite sandwich. Check for hours, they can change.

My son was visiting Montana for the first time. I took him to have breakfast at Meadow Creek Cafe for a true local experience. We were not disappointed. The service was wonderful and the food was right on.

Everything is made from scratch. And, it is delicious! We had the meadow creek platter. They baste their eggs making the perfect yolk to dip your toast. We opted for sour dough, yum! The bacon was perfect to me, and the homemade hashbrowns were delicious. Not doused in fat or spices. We shared a homemade biscuit and gravy, also made from scratch. Portions were spot on. A decent amount but not the grossly oversized amount at some places. The owner and waitress was lovely. The cafe is an antique store turned gathering place for locals and those who know about this little gem, just off the highway. An open and inviting space with natural light and a mix of various styles of tables and chairs, an old piano, local art and offerings. We leave satiated knowing we will be back soon!

I just love this down home place. If you need a good sandwich or crave a cinnamon roll... My favorite is the huckleberry shake.
